Looks like a great event to attend in beautiful Wadi Shab on September 27th if you’re not busy. Wadi Shab is such an awesome spot. My favorite part is the Wadi Shab Cave which I didn’t get a chance to photograph or videotape yet, but here’s a decent video from someone who’s been there:

This sounds odd. Where in the wadi (and how) are they going to set up the “diving board”? On a different note: congratulations on your PADI!
Thanks, Alessandra!
How and where they’ll set up things at Wadi Shab is a mystery but I’m sure they’ll come up with something. I just hope they do it right and don’t miscalculate things resulting in someone bashing their brains on the rocks!
You read my mind…
Haha!
It seems our minds are often on the same wavelength, huh?!
Indeed
According to the redbull official site the event is to take place on the 27th Sept 2012 … http://www.redbull.com/cs/Satellite/en_INT/Event/Red-Bull-Cliff-Diving-Oman-021243173879562 …… pls reconfirm ….
harsha,
Thanks for mentioning this. Yes, I have noticed a conflict in the reporting of this event. I would have to guess that redbull would most likely get it right, so it must be the 27th. I’ll change the date in the title. Thanks!
Hi Guys!
The Red Bull Cliff Diving will be taking place on Thursday 27th of September. Originally it was set for Friday 28th but it was changed as Friday is a family day for alot of people.
@ Alessendra: Wadi Shab is located in Niyabat Tiwi, a village between Muscat and the Town of Sur. It can be easily reached from the Quriyat-Sur highway and is about a 2 hour drive from Muscat.
As for the diving board and the logistics of the event …you will just have to wait and see!
Hope to see you there!
Stacey
Red Bull Oman
Now I am curious! (I do know Wadi Shab very well but I was trying to figure out the logistics
. I guess it’s time to organise a trip down the coast to watch it!
Maybe I’ll see you there on the 27th!
hi stacey; thanks for the info. since your with red bull oman,
i just want to know, since wadi shab is a long walk.. where exactly is the cliff diving event? is it 3 kilometer walk away from where we can park our car? or is it just near the opening? thanks in advance..
Anon,
Great question! I wondered the same thing about location. According to the map that Stacey sent me (which I will share in the next few days!), the event itself is a bit of a walk from the parking. I think it’s a couple of kilometres. Keep checking back and you’ll have the map!
thanks andy, yes because if its more than a kilo walk then i suggest we should carry some extra cold fuids..the sun is normally scorching(if the event is at 11:30am) but the x factor is that the humidity still feels like a steam bath…
Check out http://www.redbullmea.com/cliffdiving for location info!
Hi, Stacey!
Thanks! Looking forward to what should be another awesome Redbull event!
That’s so great of you to comment here and give us some more info!
Hi, I have been to Wadi back in nov 2009 and it’s the most beautiful place! I even had a young 15 yr old local boy “Sami” give me a guided tour….. Thru to rock pools and the secret cave. It’s an awesome place.
Kt
I would love to be there but I’m back in Australia . Almuqeeni “Sami” the boy who lives with his family in a house on the cliff beside the wadi in Tiwi will be there! He told me about it! I’m sure it will be amazing! Good luck, have fun!!! Very jealous I can’t be there .
Hi, some ads mention that gates open at 9.30 am. Does it mean that this is a ticketed event? Will appreciate if you can share any positive leads on this. Anyways it’s gonna be a fun event, I guess.
Rakesh,
I hope you did in fact attend the event and that you had a great time. All the best.
Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner. I just noticed your comment now – 1 week after the event!
its very nice.
aliraza,
Yes, it was a fantastic event!
