“Hands. Hands can be instrumental in a photo – they emphasis, they hide, they reveal. They can be the star of the show, or just a prop to help the main attraction stand out better….Share a picture that has a HAND in it with everyone!” (from Sara Rosso’s post describing this week’s photo challenge)
I love it when my son wants and chooses to hold my hand. Words can’t describe it. Even better when he wants to be held and says, “Daddy, carry!” Sometimes he gets frustrated with something he’s trying to do with his little hands like build a lego tower or get one of the boardgames out of the cupboard. My heart could just melt when I hear him getting frustrated and he eventually cries out, “Daddy, help!”
I pray that I will always be a helping hand in my son’s and daughter’s lives. Life is hard and cruel enough without having unhelpful, unloving, unsupportive people in your life who somehow feel that have a right to drag you down because you happen to be family. Better to be an orphan than have family like that! I pray that our children may come to know the love of their Heavenly Father and see a reflection of His love in how we raise and treat them. (“See, I have engraved you on the palms of My Hands..” Isaiah 49:16)
Lord, take these little hands And use them to serve others in love.
As they aid their fellow man, May it point to Your Heart above.
May you bless and strengthen them And keep them from all harm
With your loving guidance Have them do only good, not wrong.
Such an overwhelming duty To train and raise them in Your care.
But we must never fail to remember You only give us that which we can bear.
May You comfort and protect them Not to get wrapped up in life’s alarms.
And may the parents who hold their hands, Be ever leaning on Your everlasting Arms.
“You obey the law of Christ when you offer each other a helping hand.” (Galatians 6:2 (CEV) Contemporary English Version)
